Painting adventure at Waipu Cove

I went painting at Waipu Cove the other day, just 20 minutes drive from home and one of our favourite spots to take the kiddies. Decided to use the camera in the phone to take a fun record of the day, so the footage is a bit shakey sorry.

Painting outdoors is something I'm doing more and more of - once you take the trouble to get out there and do it a few times it really gets in your blood. It's much more exciting than studio work because of the whole adventure of finding the right spot in the first place (like hunting for gold), and contending with the elements and other things which serve to test your resolve and sharpen your skills.

I've spent the last month working on a larger video project called "Painting Adventures" which brings you along with me on an outdoor painting expedition, following every footstep and brushstroke. More about that tomorrow though.

I hope you enjoy this little adventure.

Happy painting,

Richard
