"Thanks heaps Richard for such an amazing critique. Christine and I woke up to a frosty morning and decided to stay in bed in a bit longer. Tha last thing we had in mind was to watch and study a dry art critique. H’mm. It was none of these ….. and we lay there for over an hour doing our own critique before listening to yours. Between us we did come up with 2 or 3 ideas on how to improve the painting but then YOU began and taught us things we had never heard of. It is amazing how you use modern tools to make things clear, do corrections and lay on layers of colour and marks. We were intrigued and learned SO much in one hour - a great way to spend a frosty morning.🤗

Hi I’m Richard. I’ve been painting my whole life and back in 2001 I traded my graphic design career for the humble life of a full time artist. I love painting, and as it turns out, I love teaching too.
Nowadays I balance my life between parenting, painting, surfing, travelling and teaching. My work is regularly featured in international art magazines, in galleries in New Zealand and America, on TV and in my Mum’s house.
I give outdoor painting workshops in interesting spots around this beautiful planet of ours and love encouraging people to paint. Two of my favourite artists are John Singer Sargent and Joaquín Sorolla.
